I peered into the deep reaches of the stars,
I listened to the waves by the shore,
And I touched the granite of the mountains
But I still could not find Him.
Yet in the witness of a stranger, I saw
He was more vast than the universe;
In pastoral words to a child, I heard
His voice roar louder than the ocean;
And in the touch of a fading loved one
He felt stronger than the Earth.
